The Modern Wing
When Lauren first told me she was torn between a rustic loft and Terzo Piano at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago for her wedding venue we were slightly puzzled… But when someone gives LOLA a design challenge we step up to the plate and swing! The key was for us to understand which design elements of each style Lauren wanted to embrace, and marry them in a fabulous design “mash up.”
Lauren loved the warmth and playfulness that a rustic style wedding offered in floral design, and the whimsy and fun of the stationery and font styles. When we took those design elements and paired them with a clean modern design style, what we got was summer perfection!
The ceremony chuppah was dressed in shades of white, ivory and the palest pink fabric that whispered in the wind and complimented the stunning city views. Ghost chairs added a modern twist to the setting.
Inside, the simple white containers on the tables were the perfect compliment to the venue and anchored the warm summer palette of the flowers in contemporary style. Layering the table with kaleidoscope charger plates, silver shantung runners and hammered metal overlays created textural interest. The print goods and candlelight pattered dance floor lighting added the finishing design touches to the reception.
