This Dreamy Winter Wedding at The Langham Chicago has us swooning! As a wedding planner in Chicago, I think the ULTIMATE compliment is having our name used as an adjective or verb… as in “We want you to ‘LOLA’ this wedding for us!” How cool is it that people trust your sense of style and attention to detail so much that they completely hand off the design of their wedding day to you?! With the exception of giving us some key adjectives and feelings they wanted emulated in every facet of of the project (Formal, Ethereal, Modern, White), Brandy and Todd allowed us to make our best recommendations for the flow, design and layout of the gorgeous Langham Chicago for their 100 guests. We brought in the dream team at HMR Designs and got down to business!
The first peek of our design was in the formally engraved Lucite invitation by Steracle Press that arrived in the mail. It was such a small touch, but we were OBSESSED with the small tie cut out in the corner for “black tie” – the invitation was backed with a black card stock so the images really popped when the envelope was opened. A soft marbled liner in taupe and sand tones softened the look and brought in our “barely there” ethereal palette. The marble look tied into our day of event stationery through the escort cards, menus and the absolutely stunning ruffled cake by Flourish Cake Studio.
Our ceremony feature was a dreamy cloud-like creation of lights, feathers, orchids and a touch of magic. It played double duty in our reception as a gorgeous dance floor focal. Flanking the dance floor to either side of the room, long feasting tables of elevated orchids, feathers and roses accentuated the gorgeous rows of windows and beautiful architecture of the ballroom. Mirrored tabletops, custom bars and tons of candlelight finished the look of the room. Mirage ‘ghost’ chairs by Tablescapes Rentals created an unfettered look at the clean lines of the tables… not that guests were seated long when you had the Gold Coast All Stars rocking the dance floor!
