Sabrina and Jake’s wedding day was a long time in the making! Originally scheduled for 2020 at a completely different venue, they had to change courses due to the pandemic, and their original venue no longer hosted social events. Luckily I was able to help them secure a venue with a very similar aesthetic to the original and we were able to start planning mostly from scratch! Sabrina and Jake were so calm throughout all of the pandemic wedding chaos and I’m so grateful for their easy-going personalities and the trust they had in me throughout it all.

Venue Six10 gave them the clean, modern space they had envisioned, which allowed us to really make the décor pop with the help of HMR Designs. With a smaller guest count and large venue, we strategically placed lounge furniture (overlooking Grant Park and Lake Michigan!) and large focal arrangements to help make the space feel a little cozier. A mix of round and rectangular tables also created a more interesting floor plan. With the colorful floral, lighting, draping, and floor plan, we were able to create a cheerful and welcoming space for everyone.

Sabrina & Jake were married in an intimate ceremony officiated by Jake’s uncle. HMR created a stunning ceremony design with a round ceremony “arch” and an aisle lined with beautiful floral that was then repurposed on guest dining tables. Afterward, everyone enjoyed bites from Blue Plate Catering on the 10th floor of Venue Six10 which overlooked the stunning reception below. After cocktail hour, the Chicago Catz welcomed guests downstairs and the festivities continued. Sabrina & Jake cut their stunning wedding cake by Flourish Cake Design which featured sugar flowers to match their real flowers and the Chinese Double Happiness symbol, which coordinated with their wedding invitations by Steracle Press.

Guests spent the night dancing and having fun in the ShutterBooth photo booth, and Sabrina & Jake were even able to sneak away to get a peek of the Navy Pier fireworks and some photos of the moment. It was a perfect summer wedding for a very deserving couple!

Our Favorite Detail

Once dinner was served, the bride and groom participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with their parents, aunt, and grandmother. It’s always a special touch when couples incorporate their cultural wedding traditions into their big day.
