Jen and Tay’s Romantic Chicago Botanic Garden Wedding turned Epic Party was one of my favorite days of the year. To know Jen and Tay is to love them. When we started working with the Brides and MOB Cindy in 2019, we knew that this wedding would be one for the books. Not only are these two tailor-made for one another, but they also have the kindest hearts and most fun friends and family!
The day started with Hollibeauty Bridal and Tricia Clarke Beauty styling hair and makeup for Jen, Tay, and close to twenty other wedding parties and family members. Shortly after everyone was dressed and ready to go, the group shuttled over to The Chicago Botanic Gardens where we kicked the day off with Jen and Tay’s first look. Alexandra Lee Photography and Smiling Toad perfectly orchestrated the large wedding party through photos and allowed them to be completely candid, resulting in a very happy and laid-back vibe for the day.
After a completely heartfelt ceremony on the Rose Terrace officiated by Tay’s brother and surrounded by music from Beatmix, the couple snuck off to the terrace for a moment alone, and to Facetime grandparents who weren’t able to travel to the celebration. Guests enjoyed incredible custom cocktails in the English Walled Garden, which allowed for the brides and parents of the bride to head into the Pavilion for a quick look at the final décor, which Fleur Inc and Elegant Event Lighting completely knocked out of the park.
When guests entered the Pavilion for the reception, they were greeted by a show-stopper of a cake centered under a dramatic hanging floral hoop. The surprises didn’t stop there- The inside of the cake was an insanely delicious rainbow layer of cake and frosting, which laid unsuspected under countless sugar flowers the Flourish Cake Design created.

DJ Matt Roan kicked off the party and it did not stop. There was a brief interlude for some outfit changes by both of the brides AND a couple of parents before they snuck off to enjoy a gift to Jen from her family, a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Whiskey, which the family enjoyed together next to the pond. After a toast, they joined the guests back on the dance floor where the party went well into the night.
