This Chicago winter wedding blended timeless elegance with modern personality, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the University Club of Chicago. As a Chicago wedding planner, LOLA Event Productions worked closely with Lauren & Ryan to create a celebration that felt refined, personal, and distinctly rooted in the heart of downtown Chicago.

We embraced a clean, classic design foundation of crisp white florals, soft greenery, and warm candlelight — layering in playful, fashion-forward details that made the celebration feel uniquely theirs. These thoughtful design moments were brought to life by our Associate Coordinator, Nicole, alongside the talented team at Ashland Addison Floral & Decor, setting the stage for a sophisticated black-tie wedding in Chicago.

A Chic Welcome Party at Tortoise Supper Club

The wedding weekend began with an intimate and stylish welcome party at Tortoise Supper Club, a quintessential Chicago venue that perfectly set the tone for the festivities ahead.

Here, our bride Lauren embraced playful vintage glamour with a modern edge. For pre-wedding portraits captured by Elle & Ashton Photography, she wore bejeweled mesh gloves and a sleek caped gown — a fashion moment that felt editorial, bold, and effortlessly chic.

A Romantic Ceremony in Cathedral Hall

The ceremony took place inside Cathedral Hall at the University Club of Chicago, one of the most iconic ceremony spaces for a downtown Chicago wedding. Soaring Gothic ceilings, historic stone architecture, and glowing chandeliers created a dramatic yet romantic atmosphere — an especially magical setting for a winter wedding in Chicago.

A clean aisle lined with candles and white florals softened the grandeur of the space, allowing the couple to remain the focal point while enhancing the architectural beauty of the venue.

A Black-Tie Reception with Iconic Chicago Details

Once the reception began, guests were welcomed into a black-tie celebration filled with high-energy, personalized details. A bold black-and-white checkered dance floor from A Posh Production anchored the room and immediately invited guests to celebrate.

Unexpected guest experiences elevated the evening:

  • An espresso martini ice luge by Nadeau’s Ice Sculptures offered an interactive late-night treat, with the couple personally passing out the first cocktails.
  • A surprise musical performance by the groom’s father and brother alongside Bluewater Kings Band brought down the house with “Sweet Home Chicago.”
  • The dance floor closed with a spirited rendition of “Go Cubs Go,” celebrating Ryan’s recent trade to the Chicago Cubs earlier that week — a true Chicago wedding moment.

A Cinematic Winter Getaway in Downtown Chicago

The evening ended in quintessential Chicago fashion. Wrapped in winter layers and fur, the newlyweds slipped into a vintage getaway car from Celeb Lux Limos, sharing one final just-married kiss beneath the glow of city lights.

A timeless ending to an unforgettable Chicago winter wedding — and a beautiful example of how classic design, meaningful personalization, and iconic Chicago venues can come together seamlessly.
