Nina and Nate attended the 2016 wedding of former clients Katherine and Nick and got in contact with me a few months into their engagement. It’s always a great feeling when a new couple calls you because their friends referred them to you! I knew right away that I was going to have a blast planning with Nina and Nate who had a vision of a fun party with nods to the bride’s Lebanese culture.
Nina and Nate had already secured Revel Motor Row for their big day. It’s a favorite venue of mine because it’s so versatile and has a lot of Chicago history behind it. With food and design being important to them, we couldn’t have asked for better creative partners than Limelight Catering and Revel Decor.
As “foodies”, food and drinks were a top priority to the bride and groom. We made sure everything served was unique to Nina and Nate’s taste. Everything from the charcuterie wall, Doudou “shot”, Mediterranean-inspired halibut, and gelato bar was thoughtful to the couple and so fun to coordinate with the caterer.
When it came to design, Nina and Nate had lots of beautiful inspiration photos for me to work off of. We actually started going in one direction and ended up with a totally different design in the end! I love when everyone’s creative juices get going and couples go for some bolder looks. The wedding color story included orange, yellow, and peach tones accented by white, a mix of foliage and pampas grass. To top off the gorgeous floral, there was a disco ball and chandelier installation over the dance floor and a neon sign behind the sweetheart table. I could best describe the design as “glam industrial boho” and it totally wowed everyone, including Nina and Nate, as they walked into the reception
Our Favorite Details
One of my favorite moments of a wedding day is taking the couple into their reception space before guests are invited inside, and when I took Nina and Nate inside their jaws dropped and some expletives were said in excitement to see their vision come to life. They toasted with champagne and then got ready to enter the party with traditional Lebanese “zaffe” dancers and a drummer. It was one huge party from the start and a night to remember!
