When Megan, Colin, and I first met to discuss their vision for their big day, Megan kept using the word “different” to describe what she wanted. She didn’t want a neutral color palette or a standard menu, or even classic wedding music for that matter. She wanted to make sure to provide her guests with an experience that was unique and memorable, so that’s what we set off to do!

The day started at the Nobu hotel where the girls were glammed up by Gabe Post for Bianca Sansosti Artistry. The wedding party was kept to family so Megan and Colin could keep their nearest and dearest by their sides all day. When it was time for Megan to get dressed, there wasn’t a jaw that wasn’t dropped in the house when she revealed her stunning, embroidered veil. It was the perfect (and different!) accessory to accompany her fun and eclectic style and personality.

Once everyone was dressed, it was photo time for the wedding party, so Jay and Larissa from Henington Studios took the gang over to Humboldt Park, a spot where Megan and Colin frequent and held special meaning to them. After the formals were over, everyone headed to the Carter to get the festivities underway!

Prior to the ceremony, the couple each shared with their respective families a pre-ceremony Tisch with drinks and laughter, followed by the traditional Ketubah signing. Once these formalities had been completed, Megan and Colin finally made their way under the chuppah crafted specifically for them by Megan’s father.

Next came cocktail hour where Entertaining Company served passed bites of vegetarian fare and tasty drinks to go along. When it was time to invite our guests in for dinner, we decided to embrace the New Orleans brass band, The Brass-a-Holics, that Megan and Colin flew in, and had them lead our guests into the dining room via a second line.

Once inside, guests were led to find their escort card on a stunning macrame hand crafted by Megan’s mom for the occasion. At their seats, they were greeted by colorful floral by Stems Chicago accented by fun touches of fresh fruit and produce to keep our tablescapes interesting and eclectic. Table settings were mismatched with various hues of glassware and chargers, and to top of the lively atmosphere, each guest had a personal charcuterie display at their seats that perfectly matched our color story. Megan and Colin had the most magical and bohemian setup for their sweetheart table – an explosion of vibrant blooms and candlelight, and fantastic Peacock Chair thrones to sit in provided by Bowery and Bash.

Dinner wasn’t your traditional plated meal. Instead, Megan and Colin opted to have a few food trucks park outside of the Carter in order to offer their guests a fun, casual, and interactive dining experience. There were tacos from Big Star, pizza from Billy Bricks, and the cutest breakfast set-up from Entertaining Company to give our guests a great variety of vegetarian cuisine. Dessert was a Chicago classic – cupcakes and cookies from Sweet Mandy B’s!

The rest of the night entailed a packed dance floor in front of the Brass-a-Holics, with the only draw from the dance floor being the fun, slow-mo booth provided by Shutterbooth Chicago. I’d say we did our best to achieve an event that Megan and Colin’s guests will remember for years to come!
