Mahek and Lionel are two incredibly fun goofballs that know how to party! They wanted a beautiful, classic, and fun event but never wanted it to feel stuffy because that is not their style.

We knew going in that they wanted the reception to be at the stunning and historic Field Museum and when we were searching for locations for their Hindu Ceremony during the day it really was hard to find something that would compare to the grand nature. Then we were lucky enough to snag an opening at the Old Post Office, and it seemed too good to be true.

Mahek and Lionel traveled to India to pick out their attire and came back with a fresh and fun color palette for us to play with. We decided to veer away from the traditional reds and keep the ceremony quite neutral so their pink hues would really pop against the white mandap and clean lines of the Historic Grand Lobby. Yanni Event Designs knocked this out of the park and again at the reception.

In the evening fusion reception, we wanted to bring in some more of the richer tones for their dinner and dancing with the dinos at the Field Museum. Steracle Press playfully incorporated the dinosaurs into the print goods. Blue Plate perfectly executed the vision of the fusion menu. We opted for the beef entrée to be a traditional western option – filet, a chicken entrée that had some Indian flair, and the vegetarian was a classic Indian dish brought it from India House. Blue Plate created a stunning dessert spread from their in-house pastry team and incorporated the client’s all-time favorite dessert from Whole Foods too!

Despite it being a long day, DJ Chris from Elegant Sound and Lighting kept the dance floor packed all night until guests needed to leave the museum before everything came to life overnight!
